Dr. Robin Bürger joined the Leipzig Fraunhofer IMW in 2010 as a research associate and has headed the Innovation Financing Unit since 2015. He studied business management with a focus on public finance and international marketing at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, graduating with a degree in business management in 2007. In 2010, he completed his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena in the area of entrepreneurship & innovation financing. Besides working on scientific publications and practical application-oriented work in his field of expertise, he also headed the Fraunhofer IMW's international innovation transfer project PRESOURCE. Its objective was to improve the financial framework conditions for the cross-border transfer of innovation. He is currently developing a new instrument for the early involvement of venture capital providers into extra-university research institution innovation processes as part of the “Matching Concept“ (BMBF) project team. Another application-oriented project, crowdFANding, won the 2016 Innovationspreis Thüringen's people's choice award and was successfully replicated in 2017 with the fan project of the FSV Mainz 05. As a banking professional, Dr. Bürger has many years of experience in the field of innovation financing. He is also an active member of the European Crowdfunding Network, the FGF-Arbeitskreis Gründungs- und Mittelstandsfinanzierung and works as an expert assessor for Förderkreis Gründungs-Forschung e.V.
