Steffen Preissler studied Political Science, Law and Sociology in Leipzig (DE), Olomouc (CZ), and Samara (RU). After graduation, he worked as a research fellow at the Centre for International Economic Relations (ZIW) in Leipzig, Germany and moved to Fraunhofer Centre for International Management and Knowledge Economy in 2006. Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest organization for applied research. Steffen Preissler was in charge of several national and international projects (e.g. European Union, Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy). Since 2008, he has been managing the division “Knowledge and Technology Transfer” at Fraunhofer IMW. In addition, he holds teaching positions at the University of Leipzig. Since 2010, he has been in charge of several peer-reviews for different ministries (CZ, AT, GER) and funding organizations (Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, Austrian Research Promotion Agency). In 2012 and 2018, Steffen Preissler was a short-term consultant for the World Bank. In 2015, he was an appointed „Independent Expert” within the „Policy Support Facility” by the new European Commission, recommended by the Bulgarian government. He gained a doctoral degree from Leipzig University in the field of „Interorganizational Knowledge and Technology Transfer“, in 2016.
