New Year's Reception 2016

Leipzig Fraunhofer Institutes Welcome the 2016 Jubilee Year

On January 21st, 2016 the Fraunhofer Center for International Management, together with its Leipzig sister institute, hosted a New Year's reception. Alongside institute directors Professor Thorsten Posselt and Professor Frank Emmrich, colleagues from the worlds of politics, business and science were in attendance – including Dr. Johannes Beerman, a board member of the Deutsche Bundesbank, and former Federal Minister Jürgen Chrobog, both of whom are also board members of the Leipzig Fraunhofer Center. The event's focus was the tenth anniversary of both Leipzig-based Fraunhofer institutes. While Fraunhofer IZI already initiated festivities in 2015, the economically oriented Fraunhofer Center is launching its anniversary celebrations during the coming year. Institute director Professor Posselt used his welcoming speech as an opportunity to reminisce about projects and results from the past year. The evening's guest speaker was Professor Hans Wiesmeth, President of the Saxon Academy of Sciences. In his speech, the economist highlighted the importance of the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy, describing the institute's position as one which propels forward the internationalization of scientific work while also making an important contribution to the social scientific aspects of scientific achievements.
