Experience
Dr. Marco Zimmermann has been a research fellow in the Institute's management since September 2019. He assists the Institute's management in cross-group tasks and strategic initiatives as well as in scheduling and supervising committees. Marco Zimmermann gained extensive experience in staff work during his previous position as an advisor for economic policy in the management department of the Erfurt Chamber of Trade. In addition to political communication and representation of interests for small and medium-sized enterprises, he was part of a state-funded project that investigated the transformation and innovation processes of trade businesses in the course of digitalization. After studying economics in Bamberg, Barcelona and Göttingen, Mr. Zimmermann worked as a research assistant at the University of Düsseldorf. In his doctoral thesis “Financial Market Behavior during the European Sovereign Debt Crisis – A Market Microstructure Approach“ he examined the effects of political communication on the investment behavior of institutional investors in the secondary market for government bonds. Mr. Zimmermann has been completing the predicate program for "Fraunhofer Research Manager" since April 2023.
