Dr. Nizar Abdelkafi publishes reference work on digital norms and standards in information and communication technology (ICT)

Digitization is changing many processes, ushering in new forms of work organization. This development calls for the training of future experts in information and communication technology (ICT) standardization.

Together with other authors, Fraunhofer scientist and unit head Dr. Nizar Abdelkafi has published the English-language textbook, Understanding ICT Standardization: Principles and Practice. With the support of the European Commission as well as ongoing evaluation by experts and students, this team of authors developed a modular work which explicitly illustrates digital norms and standards in ICT using case studies. The book addresses an area of academic instruction literature that has hardly been covered before now. It is intended for the fields of economics, management, innovation, and law, and can be used in advanced training for teachers. Instructors can also access a set of slides for courses, which is available free of charge on the website of the commissioning standardization organization, "European Telecommunications Standards Institute" (ETSI).
