Professional development
Dr. Robin Bürger joined Fraunhofer IMW in Leipzig in 2010 as a research fellow and has headed the Innovation Financing Unit since 2015. He studied business administration with a focus on finance and international marketing at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, graduating with a degree in business administration in 2007. In 2010, he completed his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Economics in Jena in the field of entrepreneurship and financing. In addition to contributing scientific publications and practical application-oriented work in his field of expertise, he also headed Fraunhofer IMW's international innovation transfer project, PRESOURCE. Its objective was to improve the financial framework conditions for cross-border innovation transfer. He is currently developing a new instrument for the early involvement of investors in non-university research institution innovation processes as part of the "Matching Concept" (BMBF) project team. Another application-oriented project, crowdFANding, received the Thuringian Innovation Award in the people's choice category in 2016, and was - after three successful project runs - awarded the silver Central German Fundraising Prize in 2019. As a banking professional, Dr. Bürger has many years of experience in the field of innovation financing. He is also an active member of the European Crowdfunding Network, the FGF-Arbeitskreises Gründungs- und Mittelstandsfinanzierung ("FGF Working Group for Entrepreneurial and SME Finance"), and an expert for the Förderkreis Gründungs-Forschung e.V. ("Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship Research").
