Dr. Julian Kahl joined the Fraunhofer IMW Innovation Policy and Transfer Design as a research associate in January 2018. Dr Kahl studied geography and political science at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster. He gained his PhD in economic geography at Ruhr-Universität Bochum and also has a master’s degree in business administration (MBA). After receiving his PhD, Dr. Kahl worked at Technologiestiftung Berlin as a research associate. His work there mainly focused on the publication of technology-related studies and the identification and evaluation of regional innovation potentials based on a Berlin-specific innovation panel. Dr. Kahl also held a position as senior project manager at a start-up incubator gaining experience in the support of technology-focused start-ups. Since 2015, Dr. Kahl has taught various MBA classes in “Microeconomics of Competitiveness” - a course that is specifically designed to be taught at Harvard and in collaboration with educational institutions around the world.
