Background: More resilient value creation through early insights
Value creation today takes place in innovative, often global and complex systems and networks. As a result, new ideas and dynamic changes have far-reaching effects, harboring both opportunities and risks for value creation in the future. Recognizing hidden developments at an early stage, for example, can help companies and researchers in an uncertain future to make value creation models more resilient.
Project description: AI-supported foresight enables a well-founded search for new developments in value creation
As part of the research program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), “ Zukunft der Wertschöpfung - Forschung zu Produktion, Dienstleistung und Arbeit”, the joint project aims to develop methods for data-supported and expert-led foresight. The focus is on the methodical development of foresight supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the recognition of signals relevant to value creation.
The research project will help to systematically and scientifically search for measures, trends and topics that influence developments in technologies, processes and concepts of value creation.
Essential services include
- the systematic, holistic search for signals relevant to value creation,
- Scanning using a semi-automated and AI-supported “radar tool”,
- embedding the findings in an integrated foresight methodology for actively observing, analyzing and interpreting signals relevant to value creation
- developing a multidimensional value creation model and a holistic understanding of value creation,
- the integration of topic-specific communities and expert networks for the validation and interpretation of signals, as well as for the further development of the methodology.
Researchers from the Futures and Innovation Unit are coordinating the research project at Fraunhofer IMW. Furthermore, researchers from the digital project unit Data Mining and Value Creation and the Data Science for Innovation Unit at Fraunhofer IMW are also involved in the research project.
The “Value Creation Radar” project is expected to run from January, 2022, to December, 2026.
