Together with the partner experimental fields EF Südwest, DigiVine and Diwakopter, the researchers of the experimental field EXPRESS will exhibit the technology used by the experimental field EXPRESS (spray drone and augmented reality (AR) glasses) in addition to presenting current scientific findings. The researchers are highly motivated to share the experiential knowledge gained in their research work with the new technologies in direct exchange with the fair visitors. "We have prepared an extensive lecture program and in cooperation with the other digital experimental fields will provide information on energy management in viticulture, knowledge transfer platforms in agriculture, water stress monitoring in viticulture, drone use and how science and winegrowers together come to a viable, sustainable and climate-friendly wine production," explains Dr. Juliane Welz, project manager at Fraunhofer IMW, the fair lecture program of the research project EXPRESS with the other digital experimental fields.
In the lectures, you will learn directly from the scientists about the current state of research and the investigated technologies on fruit and wine growing in times of climate change, water stress monitoring with the latest sensor technology, drones in agriculture and the application possibilities of virtual glasses.
We look forward to seeing you at the digital experimentation fields with free admission on Feb. 8-10, 2023, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. each day at the 5th Winemaker Service Fair:

How to get there:
In addition to the good connections by car, a free shuttle bus connects the trade fair center with Karlsruhe's main train station. The shuttle bus departs from the station forecourt in the morning at 8:10 a.m. at half-hourly intervals to the fair, switching to hourly intervals from 12:10 p.m. in the afternoon. From the fair, visitors can take the shuttle bus back to the main train station every hour on the hour, as well as between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at half-hourly intervals.
Background
EXPRESS is being carried out by a research network coordinated by the Institute of Information Systems at Leipzig University involving the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ, the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW, and the IMMS Institut für Mikroelektronik- und Mechatronik-Systeme gemeinnützige GmbH. Among others, Obstland Dürrweitzschen AG and Weingut Schloss Proschwitz Prinz zur Lippe GmbH und Co. KG are participating in EXPRESS as agricultural stakeholders. In the course of the project, other agricultural players may join EXPRESS.
EXPRESS is one of fourteen experimental fields run by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture to test digital technologies in agriculture. The focus of the regional project is on crop production and special crops. Agricultural businesses from central Germany can join the project and thus participate in the findings on the benefits and practicality of digital technologies. A quarterly newsletter provides information on current progress in the project.
