DBU Special Representatives: Knowledge and Technology Transfer for Innovative Environmental Projects in Central and Eastern Europe

Motivation:

We want to take responsibility and make a contribution in solving current environmental problems, in particular those resulting from unsustainable economic and lifestyle choices in our society. The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Environmental Foundation, or DBU) sees a central need for action in the areas of climate change, biodiversity loss, unsustainable use of resources, and harmful emissions - and we are supporting them with our expertise.

Project:

Claudia Domel, research fellow at Fraunhofer IMW, has been cooperating with the DBU since 2009 and, as a special representative, has supported the Foundation in initiating and implementing international funding projects in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern European partner countries - from the Baltic States (including Kaliningrad, Russia) to the Balkan and Carpathian regions.

Our services:

We accompany the DBU scientifically and advise them, among other things, on the environmental situations, framework conditions, and innovative content of project proposals in their target countries. Other tasks include identifying potential cooperation partners, launching new initiatives, monitoring projects, building networks, and coordinating with relevant ministries and authorities in Germany and in partner countries. Last but not least, we support project partners and the DBU in solving specific problems within the framework of the project implementation.

The aim of our work is to effectively support the transfer of German environmental know-how and technologies to Central and Eastern Europe.
