Jens Rockel holds a Diplom-Volkswirt Degree in economics and has worked at the Fraunhofer IMW since 2009. He has assisted the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Division as a research associate since January 2012 and is the acting head of the Crowd Innovation Unit (from January 1, 2025, part of Fraunhofer ISI). He studied economics with a focus on public finance and banking at Leipzig University, graduating in 2011. Alongside his research and the practical application-oriented work in his field of expertise, he was also a member of the team working on the Fraunhofer IMW's international innovation transfer project, PRESOURCE, which was aimed at improving the financial and institutional framework conditions for the cross-border transfer of environmental and sustainability-related innovations. He currently manages and coordinates the matching concept project, which aims to develop a new instrument for the early involvement of venture capital providers into extra-university research institution innovation processes. Due to his banking background and his work for the Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS) investment team, Jens Rockel can also look back on several years of professional experience in the area of innovation financing and innovation strategy evaluation.
