Phase I
Duration: July 2007 – October 2008
The aim of the TASK project, led by the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ Leipzig on behalf of the BMBF, is to promote the practical utilization of innovative concepts and technologies from research projects in the areas of soil, groundwater and land revitalization. In this process, suitable products and measures for prevention, inspection, decontamination and planning are being identified. As well as increasing the level of visibility, acceptance and, where appropriate, implementation, one of the core aims of the project is to improve the competitive capacity of these products.
Besides project analyses, the Leipzig Fraunhofer Center provided product-specific market and industry analyses, as well as implementation strategies and business models for marketing the products. The area of investigation covered Germany, looking at the prospects for potential target markets in Central and Eastern Europe. The individually proposed support measures were subsequently to be implemented and extrapolated to other areas.
Phase II
Duration: April 2009 – December 2009
For a successful internationalization of the range of TASK technologies, familiarity with relevant target markets is a basic requirement. For this reason, in Phase II of the TASK project, a concentration on the environmental remediation markets in Poland and Romania was the focus of the Leipzig Fraunhofer Center’s project activities.
Country-specific studies of the markets and players presented the basic political, legal and economic conditions of these markets and identified the relevant players in the spheres of politics, the economy and society. The goal was for networks of relationships, areas of responsibility and modes of behavior to be made transparent and comprehensible.
